Jacksonville Public Library

Our public libraries here in Jacksonville are wonderful places to visit. I hope everyone will take advantage of them as they plan activities for this summer. The Jacksonville Public Library Summer Reading Program was launched today. Be sure to sign up and keep track of the books you read this summer. When you return to school in the fall, give your new teacher your list  and it will count as part of next year's reading goal!
There are library branches located around the city for your convenience, but 3 of the closest branches are:
University Park, Regency, and Southeast libraries. You can check the JPL website to check out their hours of operation. You can be sure of one thing: All the libraries are planning many activities, storytimes, crafts, etc.

Breaking News from the Public Library:
New to this year’s program are performances by the popular educational theatre group, the Hampstead Stage Company. The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, Jacksonville Suns and Ronald McDonald will visit library locations as will the Curious Moon Puppet Theatre. Ron Anglin will amaze and educate audiences with club juggling, plate-spinning and Chinese yo-yos. You will also have a chance to "visit" Australia with stories and music. Can you play a didgeridoo? Come and find out! (Check library schedule on the JPL website to determine branch location.)
The library has also partnered with Barnes & Noble to encourage reading during the summer. Children in kindergarten through sixth grade can earn a free book by reading eight books and recording them in the Barnes & Noble Reading Journal. Books read and logged for the library’s Summer Reading Program can count toward the eight books needed for the B&N Reading Journal. The journal can be brought to any Barnes & Noble location for a choice of a free book from a Barnes & Noble summer reading list.

Here is a sample of the University Park Library flyer. Check out the flyers at your nearest branch and join the JPL Summer Reading Program today!
